Thankful

Tis the time of year to be cheesy and ober thankful so I know you all will not be surprised with this post.

I was not sure how this Thanksgiving was going to turn out.  It was mine and Preston’s first Thanksgiving married, but it was also the first and only Thanksgiving away from home.  After much deliberation we decided with all Preston’s interviews and flying around every weekend, it was not the best idea.  By default I had one of the most amazing Thanksgivings and weekends I have ever had.

Down the hall from us is a older man named Bob.  I don’t chat with him a ton because I have always gotten the feeling that he would rather be left alone.  We were planning a big thanksgiving with our across the hall neighbor( Leah ,our good friend and Pearls best friend) and I ran into Bob in the hall.  I was a little nervous asking him if he has plans for Thanksgiving, but I did anyway.  To my surprise he accepted and seemed very excited to join us.  On thanksgiving he changed from his worn out old jeans and his veterans  hat to a nice sweater and a pair of slacks.  We got all dressed up for the party.  As it turns out Bob has no one in the world.  He has no kids ,his parents are long gone, he has one sister who has very poor health in Minnesota.  He just doesn't have a soul in the world who checks in or to care about how he is doing. He was grateful for a a yummy meal and very rarely looked up from his food.  We had good conversation after dinner for a little bit and then he went home.

It really put things into perspective.  I am so so grateful for my situation.  For my loving husband and two loving, caring families that I know would do anything for us.  Every year when I have been dancing and singing with my family on Thanksgiving, Bob like so many others have been alone.  I am so glad he got to feel the love from us this Thanksgiving. I'm just worried about the next when we are gone.

It about that time

002

Kami is officially in Guatemala.  Before she left we had one last girls get together “pedi party.”  We all got the same color on our toes and promised to think of each other whenever we looked down and saw them.  ( a bit dramatic I know)  Well it’s time to change them.  I miss Kami so much.  This is just one more reminder that she's gone. WAAAAAA!

Some pics from her farewell.

AAHHHH LIfe!

Life is a good time.  Preston and I have been getting busy with work and partying.  Preston is just starting to get interviews for orthopedics. 5 so far and more to come so wish us luck.  I am working for Otto bock full time now and it is about 1 million times better that working for them in Tempe.

Theresa and Emet came in town!!!  My first official visitors it was the time of my life!!!!  After Emet went back home Theresa stayed a little longer and we decided to take advantage of the time without husbands and go to Forks.  For those of you who don’t know what is so great about Forks listen up… It is the home of the Cullens and Bella.  From  Twilight sillies!…  They are real!!!!!!!  We also went to La Push and found some evidence of werewolves.  We hung out a lot in the woods hoping to be bitten, but no such luck.

Just to keep ya posted

Preston is working everyday at the U of Washington and he seems to be liking the research he is doing so that's good.  He doesn't have crazy hours or anything so I actually get to spend time with him so I am loving that.

I on the other hand am not working yet… I did get a job with Otto Bock again it is just taking forever to get the paperwork pushed through.  Who knows what takes people so long, but it takes forever.  So once again I am finding ways to entertain myself all alone during the day… Well almost all alone, Pearl.  Here are some recent pictures.  Sorry most of them are just of me, but you know what can you do when you are the only one in the world who does…..well……… nothing!???

In the library. a little sneak peek of what  the people of Seattle are like

This picture deserves a  bigger explanation. When Preston and I were  downtown we ran into a Native American celebration  of welcoming back the Salmon.  Anywho different tribes from Washington were there and had booths.  The Quileute tribe had a booth with team Jacob shirts so we needed a picture!

Buddy? or Buddy?

So I love my neighborhood. We know this, but one huge plus is that it is sooo dog friendly. Everyone has dogs so Pearl fits in quite well here. We go on walks everyday all over town and to the beach. She has the time of her life. Last week she fit in a little too well.

Pearl has officially become a woman.... I mean it is her very first magical time of the six months for dogs. So you could imagine with fluffy fur like hers what a hit she is.

We went to the beach for a little stroll when a woman, her dog and her husband (lagging behind) approached us. The male dog was very interested in Pearl romantically. The woman kept saying "come on buddy, come on buddy" and pulling her dog away. I was trying to smooth over the semi awkward situation of her oversize German Shepperd trying to get it on with my little puppy when I said (in a baby voice) "well Buddy sure is cute how old is cute little buddy?" The woman looked very pleased and looked up at me laughing and said "buddy is my husband." She was hurrying her slow husband so they could go. I then started talking really fast about how I don't think Buddy is only a dogs name and how it is actually a lovely human name as well and other such nonsense that I can't even remember. I'm sure it only made things worse. The man was not a pleased as his wife was with my mistake and said to his wife "okay laugh it up" and they moved on.

I wonder why things like this happen to me? I make a fool out of myself on a regular basis. This was just a funny one that I had to document. So Kami (my little sister) this one goes down in your book if Things that could only happen to Lindsey!

We are here, we are here, we are here!!!!!

I know I know I have a lot of catching up to do like our honeymoon and our month in Texas, but that is going have to wait because we are finally here!  Yipppeee!

SEATTLE!!!!

712

Here is in the front of our apartment home sweet home.

Seattle greeted us with a sunny smile as we drove into town… after that it has rained off an on everyday.  But I’ll tell you what, the times that it’s not raining it is soooo beautiful. Preston started work today.  I am hoping to work part time for Otto Bock and find another part time job so the hunt is on!

We basically live downtown.  It’s most defiantly “urban living” it’s different but a fun change.  You can walk to EVERYTHING.  It is so very different…  especially coming from a place like Texas the land of big hair and southern drawl to the land where people are so hippy they would  kill for the granola under your nails:) (you hear that Loretta?) –that was for Theresa

I find Seattle so far to be soothing, eclectic, and totally my deal!  Best of all I am here with the most amazing person ever. We are having a good time.

Here are some highlights so far….
